WHAT IS UNDERGROUND YOGA
1. Situated beneath the surface of the ground
1. A group or movement organized secretly to work against an existing regime.
Our movement is built from the ground up, and doesn’t follow the traditional barriers of space and motion . Underground yoga focuses on cultivating a movement centered around multiple styles of yoga harmoniously synchronized to various live music. We do away with the notion of having specific places where one can practice yoga. The majority of our classes take place in a nightclub environment, where the dimmed lighting, mixed with top quality audio/visual equipment allow for a more judgement-free practice. This doesn’t stop us from curating classes on rooftops, festivals, yoga studios, and any other location that piques our interest.
Underground Yoga took root in the summer of 2016, growing from the deep house yoga classes curated by Anthony Legghio & Alissa Jo.
Come see what our classes have to offer!
We here at Underground Yoga love working, and growing with other like-minded companies to bring about the most engaging, unique, and exciting classes for all those involved. Here is a list of some of our past & present sponsors. If you are interested in partnering with us on a future class, please email email@example.com.

Founder / Organizer
Anthony started working in music in 2011 and immediately knew he couldn’t work in any other industry. He made real, lasting relationships with multiple companies such as Live Nation, AEG, React Presents, & Paxahau where he works currently. He had the opportunity to work on multiple events and festivals of all shapes and sizes across the western hemisphere. These experiences have bolstered his wide skill set for organizing events, and facilitated the creation of his own production company, Southpaw Events. He’s loved music since childhood, and has practiced yoga for years. This project is an outlet used to fuse two of his passions.
Frannie’s love for people and her ability to find a light within any dark place has driven her to this project. She has worked within many industries that takes the customer service to the next level. Studying at the University of Michigan has allowed her to truly cultivate her business mind and connecting her with many opportunities. This past summer she obtained her 200 hr yoga teacher certification through Jonny Kest’s Center For Yoga. Her journey in life starts with allowing people in understanding the power that resides within.
Carol Ann Manown
Carol’s journey in yoga began when she was drawn to the teachings of vedanta philosophy which allowed her to open her mind to not just the movements of yoga but the deeper connections you make within yourself. As a previous dancer for 16 years she naturally loves immersing herself in music and movement. After taking the Life and Teacher training with the Yoga Shelter in 2010 she acquired her 200 hour teacher certification and became a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. Shortly after, she was introduced to Anusara which allowed her to incorporate alignment in the practice, creating a practice that connects the body, mind, and breath with loving support.
